What are some personal experiences you've had while volunteering abroad?

I've had the opportunity to volunteer in several countries, including Kenya and Brazil. In Kenya, I worked with a local NGO to help build schools, which was incredibly rewarding. In Brazil, I assisted in a wildlife conservation project, where I learned a lot about the local ecosystem.

The most challenging part was definitely the language barrier. In Brazil, I had to rely on basic Portuguese and gestures to communicate. It was tough at times, but it pushed me to learn and adapt quickly.

Did you make any lasting friendships during your volunteering experiences?

Absolutely! I met some incredible people, both locals and fellow volunteers. We still keep in touch, and I even visited a friend I made in Kenya last year.

What advice would you give to someone considering volunteering abroad?

I would say to do your research on the organization and the community you'll be working with. Be open-minded and ready to embrace new cultures. It's a life-changing experience!
